Short Sale Training at Utah Association of Realtors Convention 2011

A few weeks ago I had the privilege of attending the Utah Association of Realtors Annual Convention in Park City. I went unsure of what to expect, as while I’ve attended many continuing education courses, I’d never attended this particular conference before. I was pleasantly surprised!

The main “theme” this year was Utah Short Sales & Foreclosures, and in that spirit, they were offering a one time chance to obtain the UAR’s Short Sale Certification. For two full days, I attended some amazing classes, taught by some top Utah attorneys and foreclosure experts.

The classes offered were first class and ranged from simple Multiple Listing Service policies and contract forms to deficiency judgements and tax consequences.

What I found most exciting about this convention was the pure passion each agent had for soaking up as much information as we could, and for truly helping our clients out of a bad situation. Not a single agent or instructor ever made a negative comment about the whys or hows of how our clients came to this point in their lives, but instead you could see the sincerity and compassion that each agent had for making sure they had the tools necessary to help their clients out of it. There were also some healthy debates between buyers agents and listing agents, each side trying to find a common ground to protect both sides during these difficult transactions.

I’m still trying to soak all the information up that I learned there, and I’m happy to say that I can officially add being Short Sale Certified to my real estate belt, which is just one more tool we can pull from to help our clients make the right choices for their families and their finances.

If you’re facing Utah foreclosure or considering a Utah Short Sale, make sure you use a Short Sale Team that makes continuing their real estate education a priority, therefore making sure your best interests are always priority.
